Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where a friendly guide will warmly welcome you to Tanzania. As you drive to Arusha, take in the stunning view of Mount Meru towering over the bustling city. Settle into your hotel, relax, and recharge. Later, meet your guide, who will walk you through the week’s itinerary and answer any questions. The evening is yours to explore Arusha’s vibrant atmosphere or simply rest at your accommodation, preparing for the thrilling adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, leave the comforts of Arusha and set out for Tarangire National Park, a place renowned for its giant baobab trees and one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations. As you journey through the park’s beautiful landscapes, watch for large elephant herds crossing the plains, family groups of zebras, and groups of impalas and wildebeests grazing in the sun. A scenic lunch stop will give you a chance to take in the views, as giraffes and various bird species move around the bushland. In the late afternoon, head to your lodge near the park, where you can unwind, enjoy a fresh meal, and gaze at the African sunset.
After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive toward the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. As you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll see Maasai villages and vast highland views. When you reach the Serengeti plains, the incredible sight of animals stretching out across the savannah signals the beginning of your Serengeti adventure. A picnic lunch in the bush provides a moment to savor the beauty of the landscape. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a game drive through the Serengeti’s central area, where lions, leopards, and cheetahs are often spotted. Tonight, settle into a comfortable lodge or tented camp in the heart of the Serengeti, enjoying the sounds of the wild under a starlit sky.
After an early breakfast, set out for a game drive through central Serengeti as you make your way to the northern Serengeti, the prime location for witnessing the Great Migration river crossings. As you journey north, you’ll encounter herds of wildebeests and zebras following their ancient migratory route. Along the way, spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and possibly even the elusive leopard. After a picnic lunch, continue exploring the northern Serengeti’s stunning landscapes and arrive at your camp in the late afternoon. Here, you’ll settle in for a night surrounded by the raw beauty of the northern Serengeti.
Today is dedicated to exploring the northern Serengeti, where you’ll have a chance to witness the famed river crossings, a dramatic event in the migration. With your guide, follow the herds as they attempt to cross the Mara River, often facing daunting challenges from both the strong currents and waiting crocodiles. This area also hosts a wide array of other wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and various bird species. Pause for a bush lunch, taking in the serene beauty of the landscape before continuing your exploration in the afternoon. Return to your camp in the evening, where you can relax and share stories of the day’s encounters.
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in the northern Serengeti, capturing a few more memories of this iconic region. Then, begin your journey south toward the Ngorongoro Highlands, passing through central Serengeti and the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En route, witness the changing landscapes and spot additional wildlife. In the late afternoon, arrive at your lodge on the crater rim, where you’ll have the evening to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views over the Ngorongoro Highlands as you prepare for an exciting day ahead.
On your final day, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most unique wildlife destinations. The crater floor is a haven for a remarkable variety of animals, including rhinos, hippos, lions, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras. As you traverse the lush plains, keep an eye out for the “Big Five” and other fascinating species. Midday, enjoy a scenic picnic lunch near a hippo pool, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of this UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and begin your drive back to Arusha. Upon arrival, enjoy a farewell lunch before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
