Pick Up from Your Hotel

• Your adventure starts early with a hotel pick-up in Arusha. Get ready for an exciting day as we embark on a 3-4 hour scenic drive through Tanzania’s countryside towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Arrival at Ngorongoro Conservation Area

• As you approach the Ngorongoro Crater, your guide will brief you about the area’s history, geological formation, and wildlife diversity. The crater, often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," is home to over 25,000 large animals.

Descend into the Crater

• Begin your descent into the crater, approximately 600 meters down to the crater floor. The excitement begins as you encounter herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and possibly rhinos, among many other species. The crater is one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo).

Morning Game Drive

• Enjoy a thrilling game drive as you traverse the diverse landscapes within the crater. From open grasslands to swamps and acacia woodlands, you’ll have the opportunity to see various ecosystems and their resident wildlife.
• Be on the lookout for lions lounging in the grass, elephants wandering through the woodlands, and flamingos wading in Lake Magadi, a soda lake located within the crater.

Picnic Lunch at a Designated Spot

• Take a break for lunch at a scenic picnic spot inside the crater, often near the hippo pool. Enjoy your packed lunch while surrounded by the stunning scenery and wildlife. Be sure to keep your camera ready for any close encounters with curious animals!

Afternoon Game Drive

• After lunch, continue exploring the crater floor. This time of day may offer a chance to see more predators like cheetahs and hyenas on the hunt or grazing herbivores like gazelles and antelopes.
• You’ll also visit other points of interest, including waterholes, where animals gather to drink, giving you an even better chance to spot rare species like the elusive black rhino.

Ascend Out of the Crater and Depart

• After a rewarding game drive, ascend back up the crater wall and bid farewell to the incredible wildlife sanctuary. Your guide will take you back to Arusha with stories and memories of this extraordinary day.

Drop Off at Your Hotel

• Arrive back at your hotel in Arusha by early evening, with your camera filled with photos of the amazing wildlife you encountered.

• Ngorongoro Crater offers year-round game viewing, with June to October being the dry season and offering the best wildlife visibility.
• The crater’s wildlife is accustomed to vehicles, making it one of the best places for up-close wildlife encounters.
• The crater floor remains cool throughout the day, so it’s advisable to bring a light jacket.
