This 6-day safari showcases the very best of Tanzania’s famed northern circuit. Journey from the elephant-filled plains of Tarangire to the iconic Serengeti, and on to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater and beautiful Lake Manyara. This itinerary offers a diverse range of landscapes and exceptional wildlife encounters, providing a truly immersive experience in one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where a friendly guide will warmly welcome you to Tanzania. As you drive to Arusha, take in the stunning view of Mount Meru towering over the bustling city. Settle into your hotel, relax, and recharge. Later, meet your guide, who will walk you through the week’s itinerary and answer any questions. The evening is yours to explore Arusha’s vibrant atmosphere or simply rest at your accommodation, preparing for the thrilling adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, leave the comforts of Arusha and set out for Tarangire National Park, a place renowned for its giant baobab trees and one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations. As you journey through the park’s beautiful landscapes, watch for large elephant herds crossing the plains, family groups of zebras, and groups of impalas and wildebeests grazing in the sun. A scenic lunch stop will give you a chance to take in the views, as giraffes and various bird species move around the bushland. In the late afternoon, head to your lodge near the park, where you can unwind, enjoy a fresh meal, and gaze at the African sunset.
After an early breakfast, set out for the legendary Serengeti National Park. Journey through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing Maasai villages and rolling highlands before reaching the vast Serengeti plains. On your first game drive in this iconic park, you’ll have the chance to spot lions, leopards, and cheetahs, along with large herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. Stop for a bush lunch in the heart of the Serengeti, immersing yourself in its endless horizons and diverse wildlife. In the evening, arrive at your lodge or camp in central Serengeti, where you’ll enjoy a comfortable night surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
Today, enjoy a full day in the Serengeti, exploring different areas of this legendary park. For those seeking an early-morning thrill, there’s the option to take a sunrise hot air balloon ride (additional cost) to watch the Serengeti wake up from above. Afterward, join your guide for morning and afternoon game drives, searching for the “Big Five” and other wildlife. The Serengeti’s vast landscapes, dotted with acacia trees and open plains, are home to countless animal species, including wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. Enjoy a bush lunch in the shade, surrounded by nature’s wonders, before heading out again to catch sight of the incredible evening light over the plains. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and a night of rest.
After an early breakfast, leave the Serengeti behind and journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend 600 meters into Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera. The crater floor is a haven for wildlife, where you may spot endangered black rhinos grazing, prides of lions resting, and flamingos lining the crater’s small lake. A picnic lunch near a hippo pool provides a unique dining experience in the wild. In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and make your way to a lodge in Karatu, a charming town near the crater, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the beautiful highland landscape.
On your final safari day, visit Lake Manyara National Park, a small but ecologically diverse park known for its soda lake, lush forests, and dramatic Rift Valley backdrop. As you explore, look for Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, herds of elephants, and vast flocks of flamingos that line the lake’s shores. You’ll also spot a variety of bird species and possibly hippos cooling off in the lake’s shallow waters. After a delightful picnic lunch, continue your drive back to Arusha. In the afternoon, enjoy a farewell lunch and reflect on the unforgettable memories you’ve made during your safari adventure. Later, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
